TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN
C Care. Be interested in and enthusiastic about what you are doing. Learn what you can about SEFA and the United Way. Visit some agencies. Volunteer some time.
O Organize. Have a plan. Different approaches work with different groups.
M Materials. Review all of your SEFA materials. Make sure you have everything you need for all of your coworkers. Utilize the resources you have available to you, including your unit's leaders.
M Make it real. Giving up 3 cans of pop per week is a gift of $117! How about donating one hour's pay, or one day's pay?
U Unashamed. Just do it….ASK!
N Needs. At least 1 out of every 6 UB employees receive direct services from United Way or SEFA agencies. How many agencies in the SEFA booklet do you or does someone you care about benefit from?
I Involvement. The more of your colleagues you can involve in the campaign, the more successful you will be. It's a great team-builder.
C Carry on. Follow through. Stay in touch with your colleagues until every card is in, regardless of whether or not people choose to give.
A Abiding. Keep your caring going throughout the year.
T Thanks. Make sure to thank all of your colleagues for participating, even if they did not contribute.
E Evaluate. What worked well and what didn't? What changes would you recommend for future years?
